Dear Warriors,

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great festive season. We enjoyed hosting a couple from Washington who will hopefully have a key role to play in ramping up the GLO USA work to a new level. They had an eventful time from seeing demons cast out to fainting five times from suspected food-poisoning – and that was just the first 48 hours – a truly authentic Burundi welcome!

Grace has been grumpy for three weeks - so long that we almost thought that was her natural character - but two days ago she suddenly perked up. Her nappy rash has virtually gone. The doctor said the rest of her rash is eczema, but we’re not convinced. There is a new rash now all over her, although she is behaving so much nicer. A lady looked at it today and immediately said ‘measles’. We don’t know. It’s been somewhat draining. Zac has been simply fabulous, an absolute joy. Lizzie’s fine but gets tired in the heat (as I do), and with the kids the whole day. Do pray she finds a couple of really good buddies. I’m doing well, and am looking ahead to the coming year and seeing a lot of challenges and opportunities.

My colleague Eric at SU was upcountry doing outreach and came back to find that thieves had dug under the wall into his house and stolen absolutely everything. He’s an amazingly peaceful and accepting man. Imagine what that would be like… And there is so much crime out here, with poor people invariably being the worst affected.

We’d value your prayers for our future. Our move to the USA for a few years is looking ever more likely, as we aim to maximize networking and fundraising opportunities; and you can imagine that’ll involve lots of planning to shift a whole family across the globe, with many other issues to consider.

Kings Conference Centre is currently the biggest and most pressing concern. We want to start operating on 7th March with official big launch 22nd May. There is much to get done before then. Please continue praying for Goretti and Meg as they deal with multiple issues, and also for Meg’s financial situation, as she has to raise her own support for the valuable work she is doing, and it ain’t coming in as yet.

The economic downturn has definitely affected GLO, as it has almost everybody. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and we trust Him to provide. Please pray that all our ambitious plans are able to go ahead without having to scale back for lack of financial provision.

I’m delivering a series of talks on faith, hope and love. As with previous years when I’ve requested material, could I again ask you to send me anything (story, quote, illustration, etc) on any of those three massive subjects?! I’ve got so much out of what you have sent in the past, so don’t hesitate, do send!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL, HERE’S TO A CRACKING 2009!
