Subject: Answered prayers galore !

Dear Warriors,

As we draw to the end of the year, I look back in amazement at what the Lord has allowed us to be part of in serving him in Burundi.  GLO has truly known God’s favour. The impact of our work is growing, our support base is expanding, our local partners are all pressing on through many trials, and despite incredible obstacles the country hasn’t completely imploded. Terrible things are happening on the one hand - friends have died, been raped, suffered injustice etc, but on the other hand God’s people are shining His light in the darkness, and we have been part of tens of thousands of lives coming into the Kingdom.

Of the dozens of specific prayer requests sent out to you with potentially measurable answers (not just ‘pray-for-lasting-peace-type prayers), just about every one has been answered – incredible! So I thank you so much for your massive role behind us.

The one big outstanding need is to find the right person/people to run the conference centre. Do keep that in mind.

Zac was two on Sunday, and we had a fun little party. Grace has put on loads of weight and is doing absolutely brilliantly. Lizzie’s doing a fab job as Mum, and not bemoaning the disturbed nights. We’ve all been affected like most of the country by the flu, but hey, we’ve got nothing to complain about. It has actually been our best year of health ever. Our stolen car has been replaced by a far better one, given freely by a kind sister who heard of our need. God truly provides at every level.

Some prayer ammunition over the Chrismas period: New Generation’s multiple outreaches with streetkids, Scripture Union doing a big youth camp (these are massively strategic times in terms of mobilizing the leadership of 40 schools to go back on fire), lots of evangelistic outreach by all the churches, the annual SU Bible reading notes to be sold and distributed as widely and quickly as possible for maximum impact, peace over the holiday season as armed robberies and muggings are spiraling out of control (many definitely carried out by policemen, can you believe it?!), political stability with the regime, friend Asele, Emmanuel’s wife, who’s had a massive attack of diabetes, so needs healing, they are a very strategic couple in the land; and I just got an email regarding our containers coming from India, and the port in Dar es Salaam is so congested, they could take ages with massive daily charges for storage before they make their onward journey to us – please pray a breakthrough there.

Immanuel – God with us! Amen to that! Be blessed,

Simon Guillebaud
