Dear Team,

As it was in the beginning...

"One of the amazing local believers we support in Burundi is Onesphore, the founder of a group called ‘Harvest for Christ’. For the last two weeks he has sent out 140 trained young people without money to ten remote unreached areas to share the Good News with the people they come across. The results have been phenomenal. I’ll give you just a sample from his email to me today.

The young evangelists spoke to about 16,500 people during the two weeks. Approximately 5,500 gave their lives to the Lord, including twenty witchdoctors. Six couples about to divorce were reconciled. Three people about to commit suicide were saved. One of them had been cheated on by her husband, so she went to the witchdoctor for advice, but he abused her trust by making her pregnant. Just as she was about to kill herself, the young preachers pitched up at her door and led her to Christ! At twenty different destinations people burned amulets and charms. Two churches were planted. One of those had 650 new converts and a newly-built structure which a number of people worked on in a few days, using the proceeds from one man’s generous sale of his cow! Twenty two people were healed, including some demon-possessed people and madmen. In one instance, the locals challenged the visitors, “If you want us to believe you are God’s servants, pray for this madman.” They prayed for him, went and burned all the charms at his father’s house, and he was healed! 212 people were trained up in Evangelism Explosion so as to continue the work by following up on those who had made commitments. There was plenty of opposition during the week, including a lady reporting one team to the powers-that-be, accusing them of being rebel infiltrators. Consequently a soldier beat up one of the evangelists, not believing what he was doing. But that same lady who had lied to the authorities subsequently received Christ and repented, and came to seek forgiveness from those she’d slandered. A number of Muslims also met with God, and I could tell you a whole lot more once Onesphore sends me the official report."

OK, THAT WAS AN EMAIL I WROTE LAST YEAR. I love it! It's apostolic stuff, as it was in the beginning of the early Church in the book of Acts. I have just spoken to him again and he is sending out almost twice the number this year, 230 young firebrands, to do the same sort of stuff, starting this Saturday 4th. I said I'd get a massive load of prayer fuel for him so that the next couple of weeks would be absolutely covered, and then hopefully I'll be able to write and share with you some more amazing stories shortly. So please do pray. He is shattered by all the organising and logistics. They need prayers for health, safety, favour with authorities, boldness and anointing, open doors, protection from witchdoctors and other antagonistic elements, provision for where to sleep and for food, and whatever else you can think of. Go for it!

Thanks for your support. Politically things are difficult at the moment. Please hold Burundi up before the Lord. God bless you loads
