JUNE 2006

THIS COMES WITH OUR LOVE AND THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST, CARE & PRAYERS

Roger and Miranda

Last weekend we went with a group of students from the Institute to Makamba Diocese. The purpose was to encourage the diocese to send new students for the coming year. It was also a good opportunity to meet up with Bishop Martin Nyaboho, whom Roger taught 20 years ago, and his wife, Emily. The countryside down there is more like Kenya and quite different from Matana.

The summer term in the Institute is drawing to a close and the 5 final year students will graduate in July and return to their dioceses. Please pray for them as they take up new roles in their service for the Lord. They are (L-R) Jean-Marie, Jean-Bosco (marrying 19/8), Frédiane, Onésiphore and Déo.

The new term will start in September, so we hope there will be new students too. There is also the possibility of Pastors returning from doing degree courses to help teach.

Orphans receiving goats May 2006

Eularie and Miranda are planning to give out school uniforms and school materials for the many orphans in the area at the start of the school year. The WHO definition of an orphan is a child who has lost one or both parents. Every day brings information about more children who have been orphaned and it feels overwhelming at times. Please pray for wisdom to know how to help and the resources to be able to do so.

We are in need of a CD Rom of Windows ME or 2000. If you have one we could use, please let me know.

We are preparing another Small Projects list and will let you have it in the near future. The response last year was wonderful and so many people have been helped in different ways. Miranda is also trying to gird her loins to seek formal external funding to support Eularie and the AIDS work in the years to come.

Please join us in thanking the Lord and praying for :

-Safe travelling to Makamba

-Safety and blessing as M went to Nairobi to meet up with Kate for a few days in June

-Archbishop Bernard and his wife, Mathilde and their family

-President Peter Nkurunziza and a positive outcome to the peace talks in Dar es Salaam

-Health, and physical ease for Roger

-Financial support for the work with AIDS & orphans

-The final year students as they leave and for new students for the coming year

-Mark, Claire and Paul living a normal life in London; Beth going to the US on an internship

-safety & protection for Kate in Kandahar where there has been a lot of fighting recently
