October/November 2005
Our dear people,
Sorry there has been a gap in communication! We thank God that M had a speedy 2 week trip to UK for Beth’s 21st birthday, to see Kate off to Afghanistan and to spend time with Mark, Claire and Paul. Since she came back, phone and electrics have been almost non-existent!
May we start by asking for your especial prayers for Emmanuel and Asele Ndikumana and their children Jolly and Lewis. This week their 13 month old baby, Camila, drowned in a basin of water while she was in the care of her nanny. We were able to attend the funeral yesterday.
Emmanuel and Asele were at All Nations College for 3 years and were attached to our church in Hertford Heath. They are delightful, godly people who have a real influence here in Burundi. The next days, weeks and months will be testing for their family relationships.
We are very much enjoying the visit of Miranda’s brother, Pip and his wife, Judy. Pip is great with his hands so Roger has given him a list of things to do to keep him busy! Judy has become M’s English lessons class room assistant!
Miranda and Eularie have been able to help groups of people Living With Aids to start income generating projects. The rains have come and 5 out of 7 groups are planting potatoes to sell.
Roger and Martin Philipps have begun the term in the Institute. There are 5 students in the final year and 4 new students in the first year. These are disappointing numbers. 2 of the 6 dioceses are preoccupied with the appointment of new Bishops and have much to think about. They will be enthroned on November 5th in Muyinga and Buye
With our love and thanks for your prayerful interest,
Roger and Miranda
