To : Makamba Diocese Partners

Dear Partners,

A few months ago we were celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Diocese of Makamba. As many of you may remember, the first 7 years of this Diocese were characterised by difficulties here and there because of the civil war which was rampant in Makamba from April 1996. The Diocese was created to be a healing institution in such a needy time.
With the financial support that you’ve granted to us, we’ve been able:
-         to supply some humanitarian assistance to over 102,000 internally  displaced people
-         to welcome and accompany materially repatriates during their settlement to their villages
-         to rebuild and roof churches which were destroyed during the civil war
-         to build schools to which thousands of students have enrolled now
-         to supply many grinding mills to the communities to facilitate the gaining of the daily breed
-         to train more priests, evangelists and catechists
The civil war is now over. We are entering a new decade where we expect to focus our activities on the followings challenges:
-         Peace Building
-         Repatriation and land issues
-         Protection of our environment
-         Capacity building
-         HIV/AIDS threat
-         Food security , alleviation of the extreme poverty

We wish to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to you all who have supported this Diocese through prayers and finances during her first decade. As we enter this new decade we still need your partnership through prayers, visits, correspondences and finances.

May God richly bless you as you continue to serve Him.

                  Yours very sincerely

Rt Rev Martin Blaise NYABOHO

Bishop of Makamba Diocese
