The Diocese of Makamba together with St Peter Parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Makamba joined the Anglican Communion during the Unity Week on 21st January 06. In preparation for this ceremony, the Bishop of Makamba Diocese, the Rt Rev Martin Blaise Nyaboho spoke to the civil servants about the evolution of the Church on Friday evening. In his speech, Bishop Martin highlighted the Anglican common belief with the Roman Catholic Church. In his sermon on Saturday, he made an appeal to other churches, based in Makamba, as Christians  to be united.


Ken Bat 14 Farewell Service

As the ONUB mission in Burundi comes to its end, the Protestant Church of Ken Bt 14 based in Makamba, worshipped for the last time in Makamba Pro-cathedral on 5th  Feb 06. During this Farewell Service, Ken Bat 14 Protestant Choir purchased 120 meters of a piece of cloth for Ebenezer Choir for their Uniforms. This came as a second blessings  to the choir members  donated by  Kenyans following that one of Mrs Dorcas Mutai   in Ken Bat 12 who did the same last year. May God reward abundantly all those who took from their pockets for God's service for their stay  in Makamba.


Visit to the Diocese of Western Tanganyika

The Bishop of Makamba Diocese, the Rt Rev Martin Blaise Nyaboho, together with some Diocesan staff visited the Diocese of Western Tanganyika in Tanzania from 10-13th Feb 06. Christians in Kasulu, Headquarters of the Diocese, were happy to welcome such visitors. In three parishes ( Nyumbigwa, Nyansha and Murusi Mission Centre) they visited, they were welcomed with a crowd of songs and dances. The purpose of the visit, as the Bishop mentioned, was to testify that now peace prevails in Burundi and call the repatriates to come back and build their country. " It is the first time since 1972 we see such a bishop from Burundi coming to visit refugees in Camps", testified the refugees in Mtabila Camp where they participated to the ordination of two Burundian Deacons Stanslaus Niyungeko and Jonas Sindamuka.

At the end of this visit, Dr Gerard Mpango, Bishop of the Diocese of Western Tanganyika promised to continue the partnership with Makamba Diocese. Accompanied with Choir, he will visit Makamba this year.


Makamba
Bible College

The Makamba Bible College that was still closed since September 05 because of financial means has  opened its door on 30th January 06. We thank the Mid Africa Ministry for its support towards the Diocese of Makamba.


Visitors

The representative of RET ( Refugee Education Trust ) visited Makamba Diocese in preparation of rehabilitation and reconstruction, through National Counsel of Churches ( CNEB),  of some high schools in Makamba province. Pray for their work that  has to start very soon.


Prayer requests

·        Pray for journey mercies for Ken Bat 14 as they plan to leave Makamba at the end of this month

·        Pray for the Makamba diocesan MU President as she travels with the provincial MU Worker for the 50th Commission on the status of Women from 25thFeb-10th March 06 in USA

·        Pray for Stephen Burgess the MAM Regional Manager as he plans to visit the Anglican Province of Burundi.
