MAKAMBA  DIOCESE TIDINGS  August, 2005

The 7th Revival Kabale Convention.

From 18th up to 22nd August 2005,Kigezi Diocese in the Anglican Church of Uganda was celebrating seventy years of the East African Revival. Rev Gatoto Hermes, Rev Karimanzira Emmanuel and Rev Ndayishimiye Fidele presented the Diocese of Makamba to that convention. " We have all gathered here for spiritual stock taking, to see whether the fire of revival is still burning in us and affecting or influencing those who come into contact with us ", said the Rt Rev George Katwesigye, Bishop of Kigezi Diocese that hosted the Convention.

The theme for the Convention for this year, similar to the motto of our Diocese, "Christ our Peace", came timely. If there is anything that people are yearning for in the world is peace. However, the peace that the world gives is temporary, but Jesus Christ gives everlasting peace.

What bad coincidences !

On Sunday  the 28th August 05, while the Bishop of Makamba Diocese was launching his confirmation journeys in Nyabigina Parish, we were shocked to hear the death of one of the confirmation candidates. Two days before the confirmation service, he was thrown a brick at and he pased away!  Anyway, death is the door to heaven .

Testimony

"If someone drowns twice in the same river, he/she is  foolish". This was a testimony of one christian who backslided while repenting and coming back to the Church.

" Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on"

The Diocese of Makamba joined the United Methodist Church and other congregations to the burial of its late Bishop Alfred Ndoricimpa. It was an occasion for the participants to reflect again on their lives in this miserable world.

Story

People in Makamba ask themselves what will be their future life in hearing  the chemical fertilizers encreasing from 10 Burundi francs in these last ten years up to 850 francs in this coming season. How will they fertilize all their lands when not hoping to harvest more than what they have sown?
